7 Brands Doing Branding Right

Branding is a buzz word right now and everyone knows that they need a brand, but what is branding? What does it mean to brand yourself? I'm glad you asked. This blog post is going to dive head first into what is branding and 7 brands doing it right.

Per the Business Dictionary, branding is the process involved in creating a unique name and image for a product in the consumers' mind, mainly through advertising campaigns with a consistent theme. Branding aims to establish a significant and differentiated presence in the market that attracts and retains loyal customers.

To make it plain, branding is how you present yourself to the world both in-person and online. Branding is how you speak, the colors that you use, the people that you associate with and events that you attend. It is much more than a perfect Instagram feed or thousands of followers. Branding is what people say and think of you when you're not present to speak for yourself.

Pause.

How are you currently branding yourself? Do you always show up early to meetings and contribute to big ideas? Do you always wear red nail polish and heels to work? Do you spend each Saturday volunteering your time at soup kitchens?

What is it about you that stands out? Click here to read How to Brand Yourself to Stand Out. The answer to this question is your brand. Branding is everything that you do and push out into the world. Before you know what your personal brand is you must have a sense of self-awareness to begin the process of understanding what you bring to the table.

Who are you? Who are you not? What do you bring to the table? Whose table do you bring it to? Think about these things when building your brand.

Below are 7 brands doing branding right for inspiration.

JXL:

JXL is one of the best branded brands that I have ever seen. Jasmine Deadmon is consistent with her colors, fonts and language. She knows who she is and what her audience wants. Take notes.

Pink Lipps Cosmetics:

Pink Lipps Cosmetics is consistent and innovative with their branding. I love the way Pink Lipps tries new things and is always sharing their customers love by sharing their pictures. GAP:

GAP is a classic denim brand with a very clean aesthetic. I love how their stores match their website that also matches their Instagram feed. I can spot a GAP ad a mile away.

God-Is Rivera:

God-Is is passionate about creating opportunities to elevate and maintain in advertising. She uses her voice to speak for those underserved and unseen. I love her boldness and grace. She's the home girl you love and boss that you aspire to be.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama:

Michelle Obama made a name for herself with her fit arms and clean style. I love the way she maintained her identity while being a wife and mother. She always seems approachable yet admirable. What do people say about you?

Priyanka Chopra:

Priyanka is a talented Indian actress who just happens to be gorgeous. I admire the way she maintains her slight accent, dark hair and full lips. She didn't change her appearance to fit in with the status quo. Are you bending to "fit in?"

Pepsi:

Pepsi is one of the best at using consistent colors and brand messaging. Their Instagram is full images featuring their logo yet it looks well thought out versus overly branded aka cheesy. Think about how you can add your style to everything you do to create a clear brand. Click here to read Say It With Pepsi.

Basically, branding is what you want people to feel when they encounter you. Think about the details and don’t be afraid to try new things. Innovation is exciting and forces your audience to look a little closer.
