Fit Fridays: Water Challenge + Why You Need to Drink More H2o

It has been a few weeks since my last Fit Friday post. Sorry guys! I have been traveling a lot lately, from Atlanta for Spring Break, and to KC 3 times in the last month! My diet has suffered + I haven't been working  out consistently, but the good news is that I'm 168 pounds of sass! Okay enough with me, let's get into this Water Challenge + the benefits!
What the heck is a water challenge?
This month I partnered with Hay Queen for a Water Challenge! The Water Challenge rules are simple: Water is supposed to be your only beverage for the entire month! I have been 95% of the way loyal, but I have slipped up a few times. The purpose of the challenge is to increase health + keep everything in the body flowing. Follow @HayQueen on instagram for daily inspiration + read HayQueen.com for style, beauty, and girl talk!
Why drink water?
Water helps to clear skin + keep things flowing smoothly throughout the body! Studies say that women should drink at least 9 glasses of water per day and men should drink 13. Sounds like a ton more than the 8 cups that we were used to as children! Your body is 60% water and you lose some of that throughout each day, so it is IMPORTANT to stay hydrated! If you are physically active then you need to add 2 cups of water to the above totals! Thank you Mayo Clinic for the stats!
How do I work myself up to 9+ glasses of water per day?
If you're not a huge water drinker then add packets of green tea or lemon slices to your water! I haven't created any detoxifying water yet, but that is on my list of things to try along with toast topped with avocado + eggs! Drink a glass of water before, during, and after each meal! That will get you to 9 glasses per day. You should also be drinking water before, during, and after any strenuous activity!
Join Hay Queen and I with our Water Challenge! If you don't want to overcommit then commit to drinking water only along with eating regularly for 3 to 4 days per week! Water can't hurt you, so help yourself by drinking more of it!
