My first time in New York City was absolutely amazing and terrifying, yet freeing at the same time. I flew from KC to DC to NYC. Flying into New York City at night was the best decision I've made in a long time. The city looked so magical, so many lights. I left Kansas City determined to come back with clarity about my future and less fear. They say if you can make it in New York City you can make it anywhere, so this was my test. 

Pinch me... I sat front row at my first New York Fashion Week Show last week. The KLS Spring/ Summer 2017 Collection was stunning from start to finish. I have a couple of favorite pieces from the collection that I will get into later. More than anything, I was overjoyed to see diverse models. Yes... KLS served #blackgirlmagic down the runway.

Where has the time time gone? I can't believe it's been 16 months... aka almost 1.5 years since I walked across the stage. A lot has changed since I graduated, from my blog taking off, to landing my first job to traveling to NYC to traveling to Chicago. Not to mention speaking on a couple of panels, doing the big chop and so much more.

Summer is coming to a close and honestly, I'm good with that. Fall is my favorite season because it reminds me to shed all types of baggage AKA let the dead things go. Life get heavy at times which is why it's so important to take the time out to live. I'm writing this post from the bed in New York City. 

My weekly schedule is at capacity, between working full-time, blogging, church, family time and my social life. There's never a dull moment, but recently I decided to refresh for Fall. Today I'm going to share how I spend “Me Time” while enjoying Starbucks Refreshers® beverages.

Dare to dream, they say. Vanne McMillan is #BlackGirlMagic, effortlessly. I'm not just talking about her career success, bomb style and colorful hair... it's her easy Kansas City girl demeanor and fearlessness that inspires me. I have been following Vanne for a couple of years now and her growth is unmatched.

This vest is everything, effortlessly. I am in love with the vibrant color. It's for sure one of my fall staples. Fall means layers and warm colors, so I'm all the way here it. Did I mention that fall fashion is my favorite?

This weekend I had the privilege to cover Urban Fashion Fest 2016. #UFFKC is an annual charity fashion show event highlighting emerging designers, models, glam squads and small businesses. I had a blast catching up with old friends, snapping pictures and meeting new fashion industry associates.

I didn't want to come across "too sexy." Then it hit me that I am a 23 year old woman with curves that I cannot hide, so its inevitable to sometimes look sexy and it is okay to feel it. Without even realizing it, I'd become a master of hiding my curves instead of embracing them.
