Encouraging Words for a New Mom

Dear New Mama,⠀⠀

Motherhood is all-consuming.

Wow, you birthed a baby. You sacrificed your body, sanity, and life to bring your child(ren) into this world. The pain of labor and healing postpartum was excruciating but you pushed through it.⠀⠀

Not to mention if you had a tough time getting pregnant, like I did. Nobody could understand the pain and frustration of seeing so many negative pregnancy test results. But we pushed through and kept smiling, kept showing up and congratulating our pregnant loved ones, and smiled through the pain of another childless Mother’s Day.⠀⠀

Now that you have your bundle of joy, it’s overwhelming. The late nights up worrying if you’re doing it right, the judgment on your parenting, the overbearing loved ones, work, and the weight of maintaining a household are a lot to juggle. Sometimes it seems like the load is too much to bear but you push through. That’s what a good mother does, she pushes through and makes it happen against all odds.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

And maybe you’re working hard to be the amazing mother that raised you or fighting to not become the unfit mother that you had. Either way, you have to know that you will come into your own.

God gave you your child(ren). He is the only one that can create life. He was intentional in choosing you to bring your child(ren) into this world at this time.⠀⠀⠀⠀

Keep your head held high, mama. Things will get better and better. And if nobody’s told you, “You’re a great mom.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

All of the tasks that you do to keep everyone else put together do not go unnoticed. God sees every single thing you do, from washing bottles and bathing babies, to laundry, cooking, organizing, cleaning, picking out outfits, and trying to keep yourself together.

Even when it feels like you’re drowning, never give up, mama.

Signed,

Jasmine Diane
