Now that that's taken care of let's jump into today's post... How to Style A Mini Skirt When You're Almost 30 Years Old. Before we go any further.... I'm only 24 but I couldn't help myself. LOL
Sis, I'm in love with this mini skirt and knee high boots combo because it says, "I'm grown enough to order a drink but flirty enough to play like a schoolgirl." I have always loved skirts, but this one in particular reminded me of my high school cheerleading days. #nostalgia
Below I outline what makes this look a complete knock out:
Minimal Skin Showing
I'm a sucker for modesty, yet love to show a little leg. The minimal amount of leg showing paired with a turtleneck gives this outfit just enough sex appeal without screaming inappropriate. I'm all for women wearing what they want, but I'm also an advocate for keeping somethings a mystery. Also, you could totally throw on a pair of fishnets or tights if you wanted.
Dark Colors
The dark nature of this outfit screams, "I'm a grown woman" NOT a school girl. I can't get enough of dark lipsticks lately. Pairing this olive skirt with a black turtleneck, black knee high boots and a black leather jacket give this look a biker girl edge. A woman should never be predictable, so why stick to a soft colors dress code? I say switch things up and often, especially during the fall/winter months.
Confidence
Confidence is a game changer. When you look great, you feel great. I was super self conscious of my body when I was wearing this mini skirt and knee high boots combo because I felt a little naked. I'm always wondering what people think when I'm dressed and if my thunder thighs scream sex. Sigh. My photographer did a great job of making me realize that I am a grown woman with curves and I can wear short things without feeling like a video girl. By the end of our shoot, I didn't want to change. That's the difference a good word of confidence can do.
