Post Grad Life: 9 Months

graduation

It has been roughly nine months since I graduated from the University of Missouri. Time surely flies, it feels like just yesterday I was filming Tiger Trends with Emily and getting dressed for Roxy's with my girls. A lot has changed for me since moving back home, so I figured I would give you guys an update on my post grad journey. If you like this post be sure to tune into tonight's #postgradchat on twitter at 7pm CT. Now let's get into my 9 months post grad check-in!

What's New
I want new hair, like bad but I can't make my mind up on a style. I'm contemplating a relaxer. I haven't made up my mind yet. Oh yeah, I have an intern who will be helping me out for a couple of months. Also, I designed #BlackHistory memes for Aspire TV and the response has been AMAZING. This will be my first Valentine's Day without a bae in years and I'm looking forward to it. My sister and mom are treating me to the Avant Concert here in KC and I'm treating myself to a massage. I can't complain. #blessup

Employment
I am currently unemployed, but I've recently started interviewing. By the time I do this next month, I will be working full-time. I do graphic and web design, but I really want to take this time to focus on my brand's growth and better serving my readers with amazing content. My goal is to be a resource for first-generation college students and graduates.

Housing
I live with my grandfather in our family home. My advice to anyone is to move back home or get a job that pays for relocation if you can. On one hand, I want to move out in 2017 once my debts are paid and I've acquired furniture for my first place. Then there's another part of me that wants to stay here until I get married. I'm not in a rush to pay big girl bills or to commit to a lease.

Debt
I am nearly $38,000 in debt, but I do have a plan to pay everything off within 18 months pending my full-time job salary. I am knee deep in student loan debt and pulling myself out of credit card debt, one month at a time. To make it plain, I shop and pay bills using my credit cards when I do not have cash. Because I only have a small income coming in, my debts are steadily growing. So once I get this ship under wraps I will share everything with you guys. I'm optimistic about paying off my debts and living with financial freedom.

Lifestyle
My life is like a movie. I pretty much work on my blog and do design work 24/7. Lately, I've decided to spend more time with my family. I try to take breaks on Sundays to enjoy my family without interruptions from social media or blogging. I love my brand, but the separation of time is healthy. I'm still single and NOT looking, at all. My church home finally feels like home and I tried out for the choir last week. I'm still waiting to hear back, but the audition went well so I feel confident.

Goals
This month I want to secure a full-time job, pay off my Dillard's credit card and make a student loan payment. Wish me luck!
